LIAA Helps Local STEM Organization Launch Career Investigator Website
Newton's Road Northwest is a Traverse City-based organization that advocates for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. In 2019, they approached LIAA with an idea for a website that would help students in STEM programs discover what careers were available locally that used the skills they were learning. That website is now available as the Career Investigator for Northwest Michigan.
Built on LIAA's Community Center website builder platform, the Career Investigator website uses a heavily customized version of LIAA's Asset Mapping extensions to manage a growing database of career information input by Newton's Road staff and interns. Using the Asset Mapping and Community Center APIs, LIAA's Technology staff created custom search and display interfaces for the career data to design specifications provided by Newton's Road.
