 In January 2003, three regional forums were held in the towns of Watersmeet, Escanaba and St. Ignace, Michigan.
The forums featured speakers from the regional planning and development commissions, MSU Extension, MDOT
and the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association. Well over 100 attendees learned about the
importance of visual enhancement in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the various types of enhancement activities, how to obtain
funding for enhancement and how UP communities can take advantage of free planning assistance through
this grant project. The project sponsors are accepting applications from communities interested in receiving
planning assistance until the 28th of February.
