The Northeast Michigan Council of Governments (NEMCOG) organized volunteer teams in six counties to identify places that tourists may like to visit in their area. The problem: Where to put the information.

LIAA built a website to allow almost 100 volunteers to add and edit asset information for their community. Once the data was mostly ready, LIAA then designed a website that immediately gave visitors an idea of the wealth of experiences that awaited them in the region and provided trip-planning tools.

LIAA's graphic artist, Kaye Krapohl, created the logo for the heritage route, which is now in used on all collateral prepared for the route.

In 2013, LIAA launched a mobile-aware version of the website that allows visitors to the region with GPS-enabled cell phones to quickly identify nearby places to visit, stay or eat.
