Preparing FLV Files for CC Hosting

Adobe Premiere Elements is a reasonably priced video editor that allows users to export Flash Video (.FLV) files.  These can be uploaded into any Community Center picture space and will appear with a Flash player interface.

To export an FLV file from Premiere Elements (this was done with Premiere Elements 4, but should work in most subsequent versions):

  1. Select Share.  The How would you like to share? window appears.
  2. Select Personal Computer.  The PC: Choose locations and settings window appears.
  3. From the list of options, select Flash Video.
  4. From the Presets list, select NTSC Flash Video 8 700K.
  5. Provide a File Name.
  6. Browse to a new Save In path if necessary.
  7. Click Advanced.  The Expert Settings window appears.
  8. Set Frame Rate to Same as Source.
  9. Modify the Frame Width & Height, if desired (see below).
  10. Click OK.  A Choose Name window may appear asking you to name the preset. Change the name and select OK.
  11. Check the Share Work Area Bar Only box, then click Save.
