Community Center Classes

We offer classes for Community Center Editors and Site Managers, and now offer enrichment classes geared specifically to Local Government and Nonprofit users.

See our Class Policies page for general class policy information.  If your organization can provide the minimum number of students for a class, we would be happy to schedule a class just for your organization.  Also ask us about customized training for your organization and training at your location.

Community Center Editor Training

Our half-day introductory course concentrates on the basic user tools in Community Center.  You will learn how to add and edit calendar events, news articles and pages.  We will also cover formatting text and creating hypertext links, adding pictures and document links, displaying interactive location maps and using Community Center's communication tools.  If you are responsible for maintaining a part of a Community Center web site, this is the class for you.


General familiarity with computer use and Microsoft Windows is necessary to get the most from this class.

Pre-registration is required, registration deadline is 3 business days prior to class date.  Minimum enrollment: 4 students. Maximum enrollment: 8 students.  Class runs from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Class is offered once per month, see class calendar for schedule.

Course Fee: $80

 


Community Center Site Manager Training

This one-day intensive training course gives you the tools to manage and expand your Community Center web site.  You will learn how to manage user accounts, control user's access to areas of your web site, how to create new Calendars, Forms and other component types, how to configure comments and other end user interaction tools, how to get reports of site utilization, troubleshooting site problems and providing first tier support to editors. This course is intended for those individuals primarily tasked with keeping a Community Center web site easy to navigate and running smoothly.

You must be very comfortable with Microsoft Windows and Internet browser use, and have some experience editing a Community Center web site, to get the most from this class.

Pre-registration is required, registration deadline is 3 business days prior to class date. Minimum enrollment: 4 students. Maximum enrollment: 8 students.  Class runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Class is offered once per month, see class calendar for schedule.

Community Center for Local Governments

This one-day enrichment class gives editors of Local Government Community Center web sites specific experience with the most common features they will need.  We will discuss creating an effective home page, creating a FAQ page, converting documents to PDF, publishing ordinances, creating forms for permit or information requests, marketing your site and more.  This class is designed for people already familiar with Community Center Editor operations.

 

Pre-registration is required, registration deadline is 3 business days prior to class date. Minimum enrollment: 4 students. Maximum enrollment: 8 students.  Class runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Class is offered once per quarter, see class calendar for schedule.

Community Center for Nonprofits

This one-day enrichment class gives editors of nonprofit web sites specific experience with the most common features they will need.  We will discuss creating an effective home page, search engine placement, using your web site to promote and plan events, using the Standard Database component to manage and publish data and create maps, offering staff-, board- or members-only content and more.  This class is designed for people already familiar with Community Center Editor operations.

 

Pre-registration is required, registration deadline is 3 business days prior to class date. Minimum enrollment: 4 students. Maximum enrollment: 8 students.  Class runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Class is offered once per quarter, see class calendar for schedule.
