LIAA Releases Planning for Resilience Handbook
|LIAA put our Experience with Resilience Planning in more than nine communities into this Handbook|
According to the Rockefeller Foundation, community resilience is defined as “the capacity of (communities) to function, so that the people living and working in (communities) – particularly the poor and vulnerable – survive and thrive no matter what stresses or shocks they encounter.” Land use planners and policy makers throughout Michigan are committed to thinking long-term about how change, trends and unanticipated shocks will impact their community. LIAA has published the Planning for Resilience in Michigan Handbook as a reference tool for a diverse array of land use policy and planning practitioners to use in local efforts to bring about greater resilience in their community.
